2023

Supercup & wildcard

Endurance

• 2023 was the year we wanted to take it 1 step further. Stepping up to (what used to be the Club MET races) the Supercup championship and why not participate in a couple of Benelux Superbike Championship races (BNLX Trophy).

• Did some wildcard entrances in Croix-en-ternois (France) & at the magical track of the Nurburgring (Germany).

• Rode some strong Supercup races at Zolder (Belgium), which saw me taking my 1st podium again at the very last round.

• Finishing of strong with a 4th overall in the Supercup championship &…the hunger for more towards 2024 ;-)

• 4th in the Supercup championship

• Competition bike: still the ‘old girl’ – BMW S1000RR K46 (Superstock)

• At the beginning of 2023, new riders were met and even more plans were made, as we created our very own endurance team to participate in 2 big endurance races across Belgium (the Zolder 500 & the 6 hours of Spa).

• Endurance on European level as a first with a new team, TeamSeventy;

- During one of the wildcard entries (Croix-en-ternois – France) in April ‘23, we met with Patrick Vander Eecken. Experienced Superbike rider since 20 years. It clicked immediately and we decided to take on the endurance races as a team in 2023.
- Patrick’s number, since forever, has been #70. My number, since forever, has been #234. so, we came up with ‘TeamSeventy’, #234, to compete in the endurance races…
- Competed in the Zolder 500 (4 hours race)
- With a field of 55 – 65 teams, the Zolder 500 is a yearly exciting endurance race at Zolder, a race track in Belgium. Battling for top 3 positions, I crashed in the last half an hour, taking us back to P8 in the end. Not bas for a Team’s 1st, but we could have been way up…

• Competed in the 6 heures Moto (Spa Francorchamps, 6 hours race)

With a field of over 70 teams, the competition was tough. We went 3 in this race, welcoming Mike Parmentier as a 3rd rider in the team. Turned out the race was a big success, because we were battling for the top 5 throughout the whole race… Thanks to some unexpected heavy rain in the end, our rain expert ‘Le Pat’ rode us to P3 (at least we were convinced this was the case), but miraculously ended up P5 once the finish flag was dropped… Still, great achievement for a team that didn’t even exist 5 months before ☺
